Lems has carved out a niche with its commitment to making minimalist shoes that combine comfort and functionality, and no doubt, Lems Primal Eco (men’s and women’s) falls in the same category.

The Primal Eco shoes are trending among sustainability enthusiasts for good reasons. Their previous models in the Primal series were a huge success, and Primal Eco, with a few upgrades, is keeping the legacy going.

I’ve got several Lems shoes in my collection but I have to say, this is one of my favorite Lems shoes so far.

The Primal Eco, like other Lems shoes, features a wider toe box than your normal sneakers, which undoubtedly lets your toes spread out and move freely—exactly how they are supposed to.

Let’s break down the design, construction, and performance of the Primal Eco.

Design & Construction

The Primal Eco is jam-packed with amazing features and design elements that give you a perfect combo of style and functionality. This versatile shoe offers all the features of the Primal with a slight twist of being an eco-friendly choice and with a few upgrades, making it the best so far in the lineup (in my opinion).

Wider Heel and Flatter Arch

The most defining feature of the Primal Eco is the wider heel and flatter arch, making it more stable, supportive, and definitely comfortable. This is a slight upgrade from the Primal 2. The comparison with normal sneakers is staggering. With these, you get more balance and a safer feel while running, walking, or enjoying a sunny day.

Breathable Design

The top layer of Primal Eco has a breathable mesh that lets air flow with perfect ventilation, keeping your feet cool and comfortable, away from moisture buildup. The design is made to last you ages with the best durability while giving your eco-conscious mind some rest.

Tongue and Lacing System

The Primal Eco keeps things simple but effective when it comes to comfort. A well-padded tongue adds a nice cushion across the top of your foot, while the lacing system locks things in without feeling restrictive. You can tighten them up for a secure fit or keep them loose for a more relaxed feel—either way, they stay comfortable and adaptable for whatever your next adventure is.

What Sets New Primal Eco Apart?

Although the Primal lineup is already a huge success, the Primal Eco did not disappoint its predecessors. With several key updates, smart design tweaks, and a continued focus on comfort and minimalism, this version certainly improves the experience without straying from Lems’ signature feel.

Let’s take a look at these updates.

Sole Design

With a wider heel and flatter arch, the updated sole provides better stability and comfort compared to previous models. Whether you’re walking, running, or just running errands, the improved base offers a more grounded, natural feel.

Cork Insole

For even more comfort, these shoes have a thoughtful addition of removable cork insoles. It offers just enough cushioning to soften your stride while keeping things light and flexible. This is exactly what you’d want in a minimalist-style shoe.

Comfort & Performance

The Primal Eco offers an excellent combination of comfort and functionality. While I wouldn’t label it as a performance shoe, the updates do enhance the fit, flexibility, and support of the shoe overall. However, it’s not specifically for hiking, performance, or doing strenuous tasks.

Regardless, it delivers comfort for various daily tasks and activities, including light walks or hikes. If you’re looking for a versatile shoe that can do a lot, this is it.

Let’s see why this version stands out.

Eco-Friendly Design

The Primal Eco is constructed with recycled material, making it an eco-friendly choice, as its name suggests. These pairs are not only true to Lems’ commitment to durability and longevity but also reduce the environmental impact, giving you footwear you can love for ages.

Better Versatility

Primal Eco shines with versatility, thanks to its multi-functional design, which allows you to wear them on several occasions. Whether you’re going to a casual coffee meetup, some light hiking, or just running errands, these shoes are up for anything!

Like I said, these are probably my new favorite pair of Lems shoes.
